A Private Commission means asking us to sow a seed on a chosen date still to come—a wedding, an anniversary or another meaningful occasion. We help you choose a suitable tree, confirm your date and agree the details before you decide.
We accept only a limited number of Private Commissions each year, ensuring every tree has the space, time and individual care it deserves in our Wiltshire nursery.
From choosing the right species to finding the words for a personalised brass plaque, we work with you to create a gift that feels deeply personal—a living connection to someone you love and a day you will always remember.

Present their personalised gift certificate on the agreed occasion. We sow their tree on the chosen date and care for it in our Wiltshire nursery before arranging delivery with you. For a wedding-day commission, the first anniversary is a lovely time to welcome it home.

Our four core species are English oak, European beech, rowan and silver birch. If you have another variety in mind for your Private Commission, just ask—we can explore other options, subject to availability. Tell us where the tree will grow and we’ll help you choose one suited to its future home.
Your brass plaque can carry names, a date and a dedication. If you’re unsure what to write, we can help with the wording.
A personalised printed gift certificate gives you something beautiful to wrap and present on the occasion itself. Meanwhile, we sow the seed on your chosen date, record its beginning in the Arbora Registry and nurture the young tree in our Wiltshire nursery.
When it is ready to join you, your tree arrives in luxury presentation packaging, accompanied by its brass plaque, Certificate of Origin and care guide.

- A recorded place in the Arbora RegistryYour tree’s documented beginning, unique Registry number and accompanying Certificate of Origin preserve its connection to your special day.
- Dedicated nursery careWe nurture your tree through its earliest stages at our Wiltshire nursery, giving it the time and attention it needs to become established.
- Presentation packaging and a care guideYour tree arrives carefully presented, with an Arbora care guide to help you look after it in its new home.
A little extra reassurance
For each commission, we sow several seeds on your chosen Origin Date, all assigned to you. We select the strongest specimen as they grow and retain the others as reserve trees during the first few years. Should your tree fail to thrive or die during that time, this gives us the opportunity to provide a replacement with the same Origin Date—preserving its connection to your special day.
This care, including keeping reserve trees and providing a replacement if needed and available, is included in your £195 commission fee.

03 / LET US NURTURE THE BEGINNING
We sow the seed on your chosen day and care for the young tree in our nursery. Once it is established, we arrange its arrival with you—ready to become part of the place and the story it belongs to.
A helping hand with planting
For a little extra care on arrival, we can also arrange a planting service for an additional fee. We’ll be happy to discuss this with you as part of your commission.

Your tree’s Origin Date records the day its seed is sown. We confirm date and species availability, personalisation, gift certificate timing, delivery arrangements and any additional charges before you commission. Payment is made in full before sowing; the tree is delivered once safely established.
